Project Feature: Grace Fellowship Renovation

Paul Hemmer Company oversaw the design and construction of Grace Fellowship Church’s facility in Independence, Kentucky. The project is Grace Fellowship’s third facility in Northern Kentucky and was constructed in a former Kroger grocery store that was redeveloped for multi-tenant purposes. Hemmer worked with the architect and building and zoning officials to secure approvals required due to the new conversion from a grocery store to a church that included an auditorium, classrooms and nursery.

The term “value engineering” is often used synonymously with “cost cutting”. While that is partially true, the actual goal of value engineering is to lower long-term cost AND maintain function. A successful value engineering effort will analyze the building features, systems, equipment, and materials while providing the essential functions at the lowest life cycle cost.
